What We Believe
Our faith is rooted in Scripture, centered on Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As part of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, we hold to the historic Christian faith and believe every follower of Jesus is called to live out the Gospel and participate in His Great Commission.

Benji & Patty Wham
Benji and Patty have a heart for helping people find hope and peace in Christ. Through approachable, Spirit-filled, Bible-based teaching, Pastor Benji encourages people to know and love God and one another. They believe everyone can have an authentic, life-changing relationship with Jesus.
They have led Refuge Church Murrells Inlet since it opened in October 2016, with a vision to make Refuge a beacon of hope for Murrells Inlet, the South Strand, Georgetown, and beyond. Benji is an ordained minister with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC).
Benji and Patty have two children, BJ and Emily.

Part of Something Bigger
International Pentecostal Holiness Church
Refuge Church Murrells Inlet is a member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), a global family of churches united around the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit.
Being part of the IPHC gives us spiritual covering, accountability, shared beliefs, and connection to ministry happening far beyond Murrells Inlet. At the same time, Refuge has its own local personality, leadership, and calling to serve our community.
We are Pentecostal in belief, centered on Jesus, grounded in Scripture, and committed to following the Holy Spirit with both freedom and order.
Part of The Refuge Family
Refuge Church Murrells Inlet is also one of four churches that make up The Refuge, sharing a common mission and values while serving our own local community. The Refuge serves the greater Myrtle Beach area, helping others experience true hope, joy, peace, and a life of freedom in Jesus Christ.
Each Refuge church is locally led and locally lived. We share an organizational connection, but each church has its own pastors, teams, teaching, ministries, and outreach shaped for its community.
